The #occupywallstreet movement is something I’ve been so excited to watch, mainly from a far, but not very far away. I did finally get my ass down there last week and my thoughts on the experience inspired my latest Magazine of Yoga Column. I really appreciate the people who are giving day after day to make this happen, all over the country. Having tasted this energy, I am convinced the next step is to spread this energy everywhere.

I am writing about environmental issues for the Magazine of Yoga at The Social Good Summit sponsored by the UN Foundation and Mashable.com. I’ve written two columns and Susan Maier-Moul and I will be live blogging the summit all week. You can read the articles and liveblogs here:
My blog, Celebration of the Nerd continues to cover the important questions vexing today’s nerd. Recently The Great Nerd v Geek Debate was settled and I have absolved myself of much of my literature guilt while standing by my opposition to gaming systems that require actual physical movement to play. Check it out at CelebrationoftheNerd.com

Who would win in a fight Batman or Superman? That’s easy, Superman would, Batman doesn’t even have any super powers, he’s just super rich…. In this case (a Suvudu.com cage match) I contributed to a a fight between Snape from Harry Potter and Lestat from The Vampire Chronicles. I came down pretty hard on the side of Lestat on this one, which I believe was justified. I mean, seriously no Wizard is fast enough for a vampire like Lestat. Check it out, and vote if you like. Thanks to Hope for the hook up on this one and to my dad as well as my wife Alicia for answering a lot of dumb questions.

saw Godspeed! last night, finally. When was that free show at CMU, 2002, 2003? You know the one I didn’t go to.
In lieu of a review consider the following:
1) What business does a band that is this good and has not a single chorus or other bit of pop song structure have selling out 5 shows in decent sized venues? In 2011, in NYC? Wtf people, wtf.
2) Damn they are good. I’ve gotten caught up in thinking the 90s sound like big corporate rock bands like Nirvana or Alice or Chains or Poison, etc. I forget that, at least for the parts I wasn’t like 12…
3) Is it even legal for the headliner at a rock n roll concert in a big venue in New York City to play for 2h20m? I was starting to think there was some kind of law that stated rock bands must stop playing at 10PM or after 90m, which ever comes first.
4) And to stop complaining for a second about how good it was. Wow can these folks play, really impressed.
In addition to my interview of Tiffany and interviews of others at Goddard, the Magazine of Yoga published an interview of me about some of my ideas about “going beyond green.”

The Magazine of Yoga has a special section on the Goddard College Masters of Individualized Studies program which you can see here. I wrote an interview with Tiffany Monique about commercial art being used to spread a potentially subversive message and was interviewed about moving beyond traditional “green” products.
